Sugilite
Details
Sugilite is a cyclosilicate mineral containing potassium, sodium, iron, manganese, aluminium, lithium and silicon (KNa2(Fe,Mn,Al)2Li3Si12O30). Wikipedia says collectors also call it lavulite, luvulite and royal azel, and that in Japan it is found as yellowish-white to colourless stone not good for jewellery. Cunningham calls it a relatively new stone, dense and purplish, gives it Jupiter and Water, and says its uses in magic are still being worked out. He says it seems to help psychic awareness when worn or carried, is worn for healing as most purple stones are, and is held or worn in meditation and for wisdom. Hall lists it as purple or violet-pink, often tumbled, from Japan and South Africa, and calls it a major love stone. She associates it with spiritual love and wisdom, forgiveness, loving communication in groups, grounding and protecting the soul from shocks. Her claims about learning difficulties, epilepsy and illness are her own and are not vouched for here. Cunningham's table lists lapis lazuli as a substitute.
