Snow Quartz
Details
Snow quartz is the white, cloudy kind of quartz, the hard mineral made of silicon dioxide, and Wikipedia lists it among the varieties of quartz under the name milky quartz. Its whiteness comes from countless tiny pockets of gas or liquid sealed inside while the crystal grew, which leave it translucent at best and often opaque, so it is valued less as a gem than the clearer kinds. Hall describes it as a densely compacted, milky stone, often met as a pebble smoothed by water or as a large boulder, easy to come by and found all over the world, and she gives milk quartz as another name for it. In Hall's account it supports a person through hard lessons and helps them set down burdens they have taken on themselves, and she links it with tact, cooperation and pausing to think before speaking. She suggests it in meditation as a way to reach a deep, long-neglected inner wisdom. Hall offers it in place of clear quartz for any purpose, saying it acts more slowly and gently but still works.
