Lavandula pubescens
Details
Lavandula pubescens, the downy lavender, is a flowering, aromatic, herbaceous shrub in the mint family, Lamiaceae. Its native range runs from the south-eastern Mediterranean to the western Arabian Peninsula, and it grows mostly in desert or dry shrubland. It is an erect, branching, fragrant perennial herb with slender, square, hairy stems and broad, bipinnate leaves with linear segments. It is one of five Lavandula species growing wild in Yemen. In Yemeni traditional medicine it is believed to have sedative, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, anti-depressive, anti-amnesia and anti-obesity properties. The page does not say which part of the plant is used, so the form Herb is the whole plant above ground. It grows wild in Yemen alongside four other lavender species.
