East Indian Globe Thistle
Details
The East Indian globe thistle is a flowering plant of the daisy family, Asteraceae, in the order Asterales and the genus Sphaeranthus, described by Linnaeus. It is distributed from Northern Australia throughout Indomalaya, and different parts of its range know it by different common names. The plant has been studied for its potential health-promoting properties, primarily as an anti-inflammatory. The page says it is widely used in the Ayurvedic system of medicine for many conditions, among them epilepsy, mental illness, migraine, jaundice, liver disorders, diabetes, leprosy, fever, cough, stomach disorders, hernia, haemorrhoids, worm infestation, indigestion and skin diseases. The page marks that list of Ayurvedic uses as lacking a citation.
