Cerussite
Details
Cerussite is lead carbonate, PbCO3, also called white lead ore, and is an important ore of lead; its name comes from the Latin cerussa, white lead, per Wikipedia. It is usually colourless or white, sometimes grey or greenish, with an adamantine lustre, a Mohs hardness of 3 to 3.5, and is often twinned into six-rayed groups. It dissolves with fizzing in dilute nitric acid. Hall lists white, grey, grey-black and yellow, and associates it with grounding, travel, communication and creativity. Cunningham has no entry for it. Hall's magical uses are her claims, not tested properties. See the safety note about lead.
Caution
Wikipedia says cerussite is lead carbonate and an ore of lead (up to 77.5% lead), and that white lead, the same compound, was the key ingredient of lead paints, whose swallowed chips are the commonest cause of lead poisoning in children.
